Great defending by Ellie Westhorpe, Phoebe Gillen and newcomer Georgina Anstee allowed only 9 goals to be scored against the team all day . In attack, great feeds and attacking from Aimee Hatley, Freya Sanderson and Jade Kersey kept the shooters Becky Freestone and Luisa Newman busy in the shooting circle. Undefeated on Saturday, they went through to the Cup competition on Sunday. The day started well, winning their first four matches but unfortunately a loss against the eventual winners Thameside  meant they came  away with the runners up trophy this year.

Pontins June 2009

U12’s

The U12's were a force to be reckoned with all weekend securing superb wins on Saturday against Woodley 10-0, Hatfield 11-0, Chelmsford 5-2, Crystal Palace 13-0, Cliftonettes 8-1, Sydenham 8-0 and Yendys 9-0 sending them straight through to the cup competition.

On Sunday the team had to re structure after GK Hazel Collins was taken ill. It did not deter this versatile team from its goal of being Pontins champions and they played the rounds with real fighting spirit. Storming through to quarter finals with wins against Treharris 7-0, Flames 5-1 and Tameside 6-0. Quarter finals brought them last years champions Oldham so they knew thay had a battle on their hands, keeping their heads they overcame them in a tight match 4-3. The semis saw them paired against the towering might of Eagles, playing with true conviction not allowing Eagles many shooting opportunities sealing a win 6-1. By the final against Copsewood Diamonds the team were starting to tire, unforced errors crept in putting the whole team under pressure but again they fought like trojans to realise their wish of becoming champions by winning 4-2. This was an immense achievement and a valiant team effort.

TURNFORD TAKE TROPHIES AT TEGATE TOURNAMENT

Turnford entered the Tegate invitation tournament in age groups U10, U11, U12 and U13 age groups and took trophies in all age groups.

The U11s entered with confidence as in the  year they had been involved in tournaments they had not lost a match. They started well beating Crosskeys 7 -2 , Tegate 8-  3, Flames 9- 3, Hertford Hornets 6 - 2, and Chelmsford 7 - 2.  But then perhaps the squad relaxing a little too much came up against Conquerors from Essex . Turnford  went down in the first couple of minutes by two goals and they had to give themselves a firm shake but although working hard and bringing back the game to within one goal they could not regain the lost two goals but should be proud of lifting the runners up medal.

Winners Manor Rally May 2007

At the recent ‘High 5’ Manor Tournament held in Barking, Turnford entered into the U9 and U10 sections.  Both teams performed magnificently.  Turnford were exceptionally proud of the U9s as this was their very first tournament. We believe this squad will be a force to be reckoned with, not losing a single game.

‘High 5’ is the game of netball for young players where every player is given the chance to play in every position, moving around the court during each quarter.  The young squad thoroughly enjoyed the day and are looking forward to their next challenge.  The player of the U9 section went to Aimee Hatley for her determined court play and excellent shooting.

The U10s equally had a 100% record. The player of this section went to Bethany Hatherley for her all round performance.
