HORNETS NETBALLTOURNAMENT - SUNDAY 25TH APRIL 2010

The U10 team once again were playing in the U11 section.  In addition to older opponents the team aslo had to battle with the rain at the beginning of the day and the heat at the end.  The girls tried hard all day and played some great flowing netball, which was really impressive given that all the girls played in a variety of different positions and team combinations.  The girls efforts meant that they finished 4th in their division and went through to a play off for 7th and 8th place which they won.  Coming 7th out of 12 in the U11 section was a really good result.  Squad members:  Rebecca Thomas, Alicia Mulholland, Emily Histed, Sophie Hart, Georgia Sargent, Charlotte Hockney, Chloe Flynn, Rebecca Finch.  Player of the tournament:  Katie Gillett.

CROSSKEYS TOURNAMENT - SUNDAY 28TH MARCH 2010

The U10 squad played up a year in the U11 competition.  Playing against older teams really brought ou the best of the players and led to the team playing some of the best netball of the season.  Every player gave their all for the full 10 minutes of each match and were justly rewarded with a couple of good wins and two draws.  All the players had to play  number of different positions throughout the day, but the team coped with this extremely well putting in strong performances whatever the combination of players.  A special mention goes to Lydia Rowlands and Georgia Sargent for their great defensive work:  Alisha Levy who played really well in all areas of the court on her first outing with this team and Nancy Wrighton for some great work at Centre.  Other squad members:  Chloe Flynn, Sophie Palmer, Alicia Mulholland, Charlotte Hockney and Rebecca Thomas.

NORTH LONDON TOURNAMENT - SUNDAY 25TH OCTOBER 2009

The U10 squad played up into the U12 section of the tournament.  This turned out to be a very tall order (literally) as they found themselves up against girls with far more experience and big height advantages.  However,  the girls kept trying in all of their five matches and played so well that they secured two well earned victories.  Every member of the squad rose to the occassion and played some excellent netball which was impressive given the circumstances.  Squad members: Alicia Mulholland, Amba Gooden, Charlotte Hockney, Emily Histed, Georgia Sargent, Libby Piper, Lydia Rowlands, Katie Gillett and Rebecca Thomas.  Player of the tournament:  Sophie Palmer.

THURROCK TOURNAMENT - SUNDAY 11th OCTOBER 2009

The U10 squad won their round robin tournament in style by winning all five of their matches convincingly.  The squad dominated both ends of the court scoring an impressive 44 goals over the five matches and conceding only 3.  Every player kept their focus throughout the long day and inspite of the rain they delivered to ensure a well earned victory.  Squad members Charlotte Hockney, Chloe Flynn, Emily Histed, Georgia Sargent, Nancy Wrighton, Rebecca Thomas, Rebecca Finch, Sophie Hart and Sophie Palmer.  Player of the tournament Lydia Rowlands.

CROSS KEYS TOURNAMENT SATURDAY 3rd OCTOBER 2009

U10’S /U11’S

The Under 10s entered two teams into the tournament.  One team played up a year in the U11 section where they did exceptionally well to secure some victories,  given a number of new players, but in a couple of matches they succumbed to older and much taller girls.  Everyone gave 100% and ended with a very credible 3rd position overall.  Squad members - Nancy Wrighton, Erin Murphy, James West, Alicia Mulholland, Amba Gooden, and Squad Player of the Tournament, Rebecca Thomas.

The second U10 team played in the Under10 section.  This squad consisted of girls who have only joined the club in September, so the tournament was their first opportunity to play competitive netball together.  The girls impressed with their new skills and bagged themselves three victories which earned them fifth place overall.  Squad members - Molly Clark, Phoebe Walker, Olivia Stevens, Isabel Keys, Isabel Keefe, and Squad Player of the Tournament, Ellie Elliott."

Turnford U9's Fly High October 2008

This was the very first tournament this young squad have attended.  The Turnford U9 Netball girls proved they were on a "High", when they took part in the Crosskeys Junior High 5 Netball Tournament over the weekend. The youngsters easily won all their games scoring a staggering 29 goals over four 8 minute matches. The team took first place in their age group at the tournament with maximum points and only 3 goals scored against them.

These girls will certainly be the stars of the future and all proved on the day that they have mastered the versatility needed for High 5 Play with some fantastic shadow marking and interception play being demonstrated by all the team. On the attack, the girls were relentless with some outstanding goal scoring in the final game, beating Cheshunt 10 goals to nil.

All 8 girls were superb and they hope to make this the first of many tournament wins, squad Charlotte Hockney, Rebecca Thomas, Lydia Rowlands, Chloe Flynn, Sophie Palmer, Georgia Sargent, Amba Gooden and Rebecca Finch.
