Turnford's Super Seniors

Turnford Netball Club not only have strength in their Junior section but they also fair well in their senior side.

Turnford Premier team have been playing inthe regional league since last September in the hope that they can do well enough to trial for the National league.  They have had a superb year travelling all over the East of England playing some very strong netball.  But the squad have trained hard with superb quality coaching from Ann-Marie Muller and out of the eighteen games played they lost only one.  The matches were played with home and away games.  They beat local rivals Hornets 41-26, Norfold United 39-27, Watford Prem 41-16, Hereward Harriers from Bedford 50-29, Tegate 72-12, Netter Gold 50-13, Ipswich 47-29 with their one loss to Wyvern from Bedford.  The squad will now go forward to the play-offs in Loughborough on 22/23rd May to play against th other regional winners from across the country in the hope to gain a place in the National League.

East Region Update - October 2009

The second of their East Region matches was played against Hertford Hornets at Hertfords home ground.  Following their first win against Norfolk this talented side fought hard and player well proving too much for the Hornets side and they ran out winners 44:20. 

The squad consisted of Charlotte O'Neill, Anne-Marie Muller, Rachel Jakeman, Natalie Oliphant, Danielle Hogan, Stephanie Burke, Danielle Titmuss, Rachel Oliphant and Kathryn Titmuss.

 

Eastern Region Update - March 2009

Turnford's premier team have one game left in the East Region League, but they cannot be caught as the difference between them and second placed Ipswich is just too wide a gap. Their match last weekend  against local rivals Cross Keys  proved no competition for this strong Turnford side and the accurate  85% shooting conversion of player of the match, Ann Marie-Muller and Natalie Oliphant allowed Turnford to run out winners 65:31.   
 
They have now booked their place in Sheffield on 18/19th April for the National League playoffs in the hope that they will gain a place.

EASTERN DELIGHT 

Turnford Premier team have had a good start to the season in the East region league, culminating in them being placed top of the first division. 
 
Sunday saw them travel to Ipswich to play Ipswich ladies who were laying top of the first division on goal average, above Turnford. Turnford new this would be a hard fought and exciting match, but they looked in control from the outset and the excellent shooting and court play from Rachel Jakeman and Natalie Oliphant proved too much for the opposing defense. At the end of the first half Turnford were leading by 5 goals. During the second half the strong defense of Hannah O'Neill, Abbi Naugher, Sarah Davis and Danielle Titmuss made many turnarounds . Allowing the attacking play of Kerry Mitchell and Charlotte O'Neill to feed well into the circle. The game finished with Turnford extending their lead to win the match 51 goals to 38. The player of the match went to ex-England player Charlotte O'Neill for her determined and tenacious court play. 
 
Their next match will be played on their home ground - John Warner Sports Centre on Sunday 7th December against Essex side Tegate. The match starts at 1.30pm all are welcome.

Turnford's Luton Triumph 
Turnford lst team travelled to Luton last Sunday to play the East Regions current "top of the League" Wyvern Netball Club. 
 
From the offset of the match Turnford were in control and excellent centre court play from Natalie Oliphant , Kerry Mitchell and Danielle Titmuss ensured quality passes into their attacking circle and the first quarter Turnford took the lead 14 - 9. Turnford continued their fast and determined play and the defensive skills of Abi Naugher and Franki Wild saw them make many interceptions . The end of the first half Turnford continued their lead 26 -15 During the second half Turnford were able to bring on their reserves and the excellent shooting of Anne Marie Muller and Rachel Jakeman allowed Turnford to run out winners 46 goals to 33. The player of the match went to Anne Marie Muller for her excellent court play and accurate shooting skills. They now look forward to meeting Ipswich at their home ground at John Warner Sports Centre on the 30th March. 
Turnfords Eastern Promise
Turnford's top premier team have had an enjoyable start to the second half of the season in the east Region League.  They made their way to Norfolk on 17th January, from the very beginning of this match Turnford were in control. Excellent shooting from Natalie Oliphant and Rachel Jakeman proved too much for their opposition and excellent court play from Stephanie Burke feeding well into the circle, gave ample opportunities for the shooters to shine.  But the players of this match went to the defence of Sarah Davis and Hannah O'Neill, denying the opposition scoring opportunities. Turnford ran out winners 41:25.
 
Sunday 27th January was a home match for the Turnford side playing at John Warner Sports Centre against Eastwood from Bedfordshire. This was a tighter game and the first half ran at 19 goals each. Tactical changes were made and Kerry Mitchell came on as wing attack, bringing on her strong attacking skills.  Turnford rose to the occasion and excellent court play from Sarah Davis and Danielle Titmuss ensured victory. Turnford ran out winners 39:31.  Turnford's next game will be held at Bushey in Hertfordshire on Sunday 3rd February against local rivals Watford Premier.

Turnfords East Region squad
Turnfords East Region squad continued with their winning streak at last weekends  home match, played at John Warner Sports centre, against Watford Premier.  Turnford looked in control throughout the match with excellent defending from Franki Wild, Abi Naugher and Danielle Titmuss making many turnarounds.  And at half time Turnford were leading 23 goals to 15.   The positive  feed into the circle by Stephanie Burke and Kerry Mitchell allowed  shooters Anne-Marie Muller and Rachel Jakeman  to move confidently  and their shooting  statistics were  above 83% . Young player Hannah O Neill came on in the last quarter and her fresh legs were a great asset to the home team, allowing them to run out winners 46 - 31. The player of the match went to Rachel Jakeman  (GA)  not only for  her accurate shooting but her determined court play.

Sunday 30th September - Eastern Region Squad

The East Region squad travelled to Westcliffe on Sea to play Eastwood.This was a tough and exciting match throughout. Eastwood had a very tall shooter and Turnford knew that their defence had to break down Eastwood's centre pass before the ball got a chance to feed their shooter. The strong defence of Abbi Naugher (GD) and Danielle Titmuss (WD) did just that, forcing many turnarounds. The player of the match went to Ann Marie Muller for her near perfect shooting. The final score being 47:36 to Turnford. 
The squad consisted of:- 
Ann Marie Muller, Rachel Jakeman, Natalie Olliphant, Stephanie Burke, Emily Staite, Kerry Mitchell, Danielle Titmuss, Abbi Naugher (Cptn) Hannah O'Neil and Franki Wild. Their next match will be at home against Watford Premier - all welcom (John Warner Sports Centre - 1.30) 
 
Sunday 30th September - First Team 
Turnford's first team in the Herts Premier League played their second league match at Stanborough against Nomads. The game saw accurate shooting from Taryn Belcher Brown and Ashleigh Hurrell but coupled together with the excellent defence of Carly Smith, Charlotte Rose and Sarah Davis saw them run out winners 32 goals to 21. 
The squad consisted of:- 
Taryn Belcher-Brown, Ashleigh Hurrell, Sophie Cockrill, Karolyn Hallam (Cptn), Sarah Davis, Carli Smith and Charlotte Rose. 

The Turnford East Region squad had a very exciting first match, it was a home game played at the John Warner Sports Centre.  It was a very tight match going goal for goal.  Turnford were one goal down at the end of the third quarter but tactical  team changes by coach Carole Titmuss saw them run out winners 32 - 27.  The player of the match went to Natalie Oliphant for her superb court play and accurate shooting.  The squad consisted of Anne-Marie Muller, Natalie Oliphant, Rachel Jakeman, Emily Staite, Danielle Titmuss, Hannah ONeill, Frankie Wild and Captain Abi Naugher,

The squad will be travelling to Southend next Sunday to play Eastwood N.C.

Turnford l in Premier League had their first match last sunday, a superb match. Turnford were missing their shooters but Sophie Cockrill rose to the challenge and played with determination and grit and allowed Turnford to run out winners 24-17 . A great start to the season. 

The East Region have their first match this Sunday (23rd September), it is a home game at John Warner Sports Centre against Norfolk Utd. The match starts at 1.30. All welcome.
